Making the Best of a Bad Situation

Yes there is someone offering off Street parking  on Grove Rd/Harman Sts (February quake caused a lot of business to relocate to Addington area hence the congestion of parked cars) which is a great idea and to have more cars off the streets around Grove Rd/Church Square area would be very beneficial for safety reasons. I witnessed bus 22 driving around Church Square/ Grove Rd area and it  had to stop before the corner cos of a parked car. If anyone wants to enquire about the off Street Parking…See More

Notice: Problems with Ning.com

Hi everyone. As the site administrator, I chose to run Addington Space on the Ning.com social networking service when I first launched it back around 2009, as that service seemed the best on the Net and at the time was free to run. However Ning soon afterward dropped its free service and I have been paying a monthly fee (US$24.95) to keep the site running.I have been happy to pay, but for the last three months Ning have been having Visa card transaction failures. This is worrying me and I now…See More

Canterbury Farm Day March 18 2012

Posted by Veronica McKinnon on March 20, 2012 at 11:00 0 Comments

Thanks to Addington School Newsletter we went to Canterbury Farm Day on Sunday 18 March. It was great FUN for the kids. We saw a sheep get sheared, there was apple bobbing, pony/carridge rides, colouring in competition, bouncing castle, sausage sizzle, only $1 and drinks 50c. It was so affordable being a free entry and you only paid for food and drink. The highlight for my boys was a haystack and having to search for lollypops in it, a kind of lucky dip only you had to get in the hay to find…

The Addington TimeBank was started in 2012 with three main goals:

  • Strengthen the fabric of our community and support our community groups.
  • Serve people and give them a means to serve.
  • Establish new relationships and meet real needs of our community members.

We recognize that each person has talents to share, and that the overall community is strengthened when neighbors help one another. For every hour that…

Have you lost or found a pet recently? I was talking to the SPCA about our newly arrived stray kitty and they pointed me to http://petsonthenet.co.nz , an online lost-and-found for New Zealand pets. You can post an ad for 14 days for free (registration required) or upgrade to a commercial ad. Worth checking out.
